Double taxation on domestic flights

23.11.2015
The tax initiative from Reise-Treuhand AG concerning VAT on domestic flights which was accepted five years ago has been extended for a further five years. The Federal Tax Administration, VAT Main Department, the Swiss Travel Association and the airlines Swiss International Air Lines AG and Darwin Airline SA have just signed the agreement for another five years.

As is known, has the issuing agency does not issue pre-tax documentation for domestic flights. Previously, the sales tax was paid by the airline, and then again from the issuing travel agency without the possibility to reclaim these taxes. To avoid double taxation, Resie-Treuhand AG took the initiative five years ago and created this agreement.

The agreement states that the tax is paid by the airline. The issuing and / or mediating office must not calculate the VAT nor list it on any documentation. A customer who wants to reclaim taxes does this with the document of the airline (e-ticket or other document).
